Opening up shop

I'll try to keep this up to date, but as jam packed (LOL) as my life is, I'm not promising any thing.

I'm starting this blog because I've always been the kind of person who works best when someone is "watching over my shoulder". That if someone expects something from me, I'll stay at it until I get it done. I'm not a self-motivated type. A whatever happens, happens type. So if you come here regularly to check out to see what Frank is doing, I don't want to disappoint you.

The job had for almost eight years ended in June of 2008. I've finally was able to find work this week. It does not start until the middle of April and its only a temp job for eight weeks, but it's something. Thank goodness that my wife and I live frugally, so with unemployment it hasn't been so bad.

Another reason this blog is starting is that to track my comeback progress in playing the trumpet. When I graduated HS back "in the ice age", I was a pretty fair player, was accepted at good music school and was all set to go. Unfortunately , I wasn't good enough or poor enough to get any scholarships and at the time didn't know about getting loans for school, so just dropped it and went into the work-a-day world.
The thing is whenever I got into a conversation about music and someone said, "Do you play?", I'd say sure I play. About a year ago, I made the realization that the ability to make music is still there and wondered if I could find the ambition to actually do it.
I've always kept my horn good condition. Valves all oiled and slides greased up.
I'll been able to find encouragement online from some wonderful players I've met here.
But I revert back to the "whatever happens, happens" type. I practice sometimes and don't practice others. I haven't been able to find a private teacher around my area that takes adult students. So I figure if I commit myself publicly to you about playing, it will keep me on the straight and narrow.
I've rambled enough for now. Please come back and check out if I can find any ambition.
Oh. If anyone knows of any trumpet teachers in NE Indiana that take adult students, please let me know.
Thanks ahead of time for your support.
